Venezuela is a country on the northern coast of South America; it comprises a continental mainland and several islands in the Caribbean Sea. The Republic of Venezuela is the sixth largest country in South America. It borders Guyana to the east, Brazil to the south, Colombia to the west, and Caribbean to the north. Tobago and Trinidad, Barbados, Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Leeward Antilles lie just north, off the Venezuelan coast. Venezuela falls within the tropics, it is close to the Equator in the Northern Hemisphere.
The country is really unique, the landscape of Venezuela rivals of countries like Argentina and Brazil. The country is more than 90,000 square kilometers and is divided into 23 states. There are fine stretches of the Andes, huge areas of Amazonian rain forests, fertile plains known as llanos, miles of Caribbean shoreline, and also a small desert. Venezuela boasts the world’s highest waterfall and South America’s largest lake. The country has both colors of a Caribbean as well as of a South America. Due to its proximity to the equator, the country experience few climatic variations. There are only two seasons: dry from December to April, and wet from May to November. The average temperature is about 27o C, the cooler temperatures prevail at higher elevations, especially in the Andes.
